Harrods and ILM Deliver Quality Management Training
05 February 2007
Trainees from Harrods' world famous Knightsbridge store have recently completed a management programme that includes one of the Institute of Leadership & Management's nationally accredited qualifications.
"In terms of what is on offer, we find the ILM certificate is most relevant for our management programme. It helps the trainees' development and readies them for promotion to first line management," says Amanda Gosling, an education and development consultant at the top people's store.
"One of the big benefits is the work-based project. It gives the trainees the chance to delve into a real business problem, find a solution and then present their findings to management," adds Gosling.
Harrods uses the ILM qualification for both existing staff and graduate trainees, having combined the Harrods Management Programme with its graduate programme.
The ILM Level 2 Certificate in Team Leading programme covers the full range of responsibilities of the team leader or member and can be tailored to fit an organisation's specific needs.
The Harrods Management Programme combines ILM modules with its own specific content and includes: problem solving, using resources efficiently, meeting customer needs and conducting performance reviews
Harrods
Since the store first opened its doors in 1849, Harrods has always prided itself on a reputation for excellence, that nothing is too much trouble to our customers, and finding the finest-quality merchandise. But this is just part of the Harrods story. The store is much more than a shopping destination, more than just a splendid building. Its story is tied up in the people who have passed through its doors, worked here, written about it and added to its magnificent architecture.
