TLC launches ILM Level 5 Award in Management

02 March 2009

Isle of Man based TLC Business Solutions is launching the Institute of Leadership and Management’s (ILM) Level 5 Award in Management in May 2009.

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) on the Isle of Man (IOM) supports all ILM level programmes with funding and will be supplementing the initial Level 5 Award in Management with 50% of the total cost.

Increasing and improving the skills base is a central theme for the IOM Government and last week the government announced that it would maintain its additional funding for training on the Island by providing an extra £250,000 for 2009.

Sue Gee explains: “The DTI have been great in providing funding support for our delegates attending the ILM programmes.  This shows their commitment to continued professional development for the Isle of Man work force.”

The Level 5 Award is specifically aimed at middle to senior managers and looks at organisational leadership, covering topics such as: understanding the management role, managing improvement, developing the manager as a critical thinker and understanding financial management.  This next level award follows on from the Level 2 and Level 3 programmes which TLC has been delivering over the last 5 years.

Sue Gee, Managing Director of TLC, comments: “We wanted to ensure that our Level 2 and Level 3 programmes were embedded first before launching the next level ILM programme.  Therefore due to popular demand and the fact that we have, to date, supported over four hundred delegates through the ILM programmes we offer, we decided to launch the Level 5 Award in Management.”

The Institute of Leadership and Management is the largest leadership and management body in the UK and TLC Business Solutions has been recognised as one of the top 5 centres for delivering the ILM programmes in the North West.
