The ILM Level 2 qualifications in Preparing for Business Enterprise are aimed at giving participants the ability to assess their own suitability for starting and running an enterprise and to assist in their decision making. The qualifications also explore the implications of starting up and running a business. The Award is a concise qualification consisting of one mandatory unit – ‘Assessing own suitability for enterprise’. Here, learners gain an understanding of the risks involved in self employment alongside the skills, knowledge and abilities needed to start and run an enterprise. Assessment takes the form of a reflective log where learners explore their expectations and reasons for entering self employment. The Certificate builds and broadens on the understanding gained in the Award. Learners complete an additional four mandatory units which cover other practical aspects of enterprise including; legal and financial requirements for starting and running a business, the marketing/selling of products/services, and how to prepare a business plan.
