Employers have no time for training

The majority of UK employers want to provide their staff with more training, but are thwarted by cost and time pressures, says Citrix.

A survey of 500 businesses and 1,300 working adults from GoToTraining, the company's new interactive resource, revealed that 61% of employers wanted to provide their staff with relevant training and 88% believed training was important.
However, cost (56%), making the time to arrange the sessions (54%), and not wanting staff away from their desk or out of the office unnecessarily (30%) were top reasons for not going through with training.
British workers also placed a great deal of importance on training, the survey revealed, with 82% saying that training opportunities would help their career and 78% saying it would help them when job hunting.
Employees cite irrelevant content (52%), receiving out of date information (51%) and the poor quality of trainers (49%) as the main shortcomings in current training offered.
