Leadership and Management apprenticeships are proven to be an effective way for organisations to develop the skills of managers and leaders. At ILM, our apprenticeships are designed to deliver a progressive learning journey for the apprentice, with robust assessment.

Apprenticeship standards in England are written by employer groups and set out the skills, knowledge and behaviours required for that occupation. Each standard is made up of on-programme learning and end-point assessment. Employers can choose ILM for one or both parts of the standard.

We currently offer an end-to-end solution for four leadership and management apprenticeships:

Level 3 Team Leader/ Supervisor

A 12-18 month programme that develops knowledge and skills from managing and developing team members, to managing projects and resources.

Level 6 Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship (CMDA)

CMDA is a 4-year degree programme for those responsible for overseeing people, projects and operations, to deliver long-term impact at a strategic and operational level.

Level 5 Operations / Departmental Manager

A 2 ½ year programme that develops core management skills. It is suitable for someone who manages teams or projects and is responsible for achieving operational or departmental goals.

ILM's end-to-end apprenticeship solution

Our bespoke end-to-end apprenticeship solutions offer a mix and match approach, built around our market leading qualifications.

Qualifications - our apprenticeship diplomas are aligned fully to the standards to ensure full coverage for your apprentices.
End-point assessment - our assessors are fully qualified and vastly experienced in assessing practical leadership skills, and our digitally-enabled service means assessments can be delivered virtually or face to face.
Digital Credentials - all apprentices can showcase their qualification and / or EPA achievement through digital credentials

ILM's diplomas at Levels 3, 5 and 7 to support on-programme learning

ILM's diploma qualifications are specifically designed to allow seamless delivery of the on-programme leadership and management content of the Level 3 Team Leader/Supervisor Apprenticeship, the Level 5 Operations/Departmental Manager Apprenticeship and the Level 7 Senior Leader Apprenticeship.

By embedding an ILM Diploma within your management apprenticeships, ILM will help you to maintain the highest levels of quality, prepare learners for rigorous end-point-assessment and ensure that the skills developed during the apprenticeship are fully recognised.

Coaching Professional Apprenticeship (Level 5)

Although we don't offer an EPA service, we have undertaken a detailed mapping exercise to demonstrate how the ILM Level 5 Certificate in Effective Coaching and Mentoring meets the requirements of the apprenticeship standard. This guide will support you in delivering the qualification as part of your on-programme development for apprentices. We have highlighted where there are gaps between the requirements of the qualification and that of the Standard so that additional content can be included.
