Embedding integrity: City Foundation Course

A new qualification launched in September 2013 aims to help embed integrity into the City. Helen Mayson was at the launch
ILM CEO Charles Elvin was among the dignitaries at the launch of the brand new City Foundation Course at Mansion House in London on 26 September.
The brand new qualifiaction at Level 5 was commissioned by the City Values Forum as part of a wider initiative to maintain and enhance the City’s reputation for integrity and good practice. It was developed in partnership by ILM and Cass Business School, with the support of the City HR Association and the Lord Mayor of the City of London.
"We’re tremendously proud of this unique qualification," said Elvin. "It blends academic and management learning to develop leaders and managers with the core skills and knowledge they need to achieve commercial outcomes and build trust. The programme will deliver academic insight while building practical skills and awareness to lead teams effectively, and take ethically sound and sustainable decisions at work."
At the launch, The Rt Hon The Lord Mayor, Alderman Roger Gifford, said that there is a lot of interest internationally in how the UK is solving the regulatory issue in the financial sector. "The City Values Forum is very much about anaylsing the issues and building up the right products to deepen and strengthen the City's culture. The City Foundation Course is there to help managers meet their challenges and set their moral compass. The qualification will be a beacon for what is good and true in the City."
