How ILM dual accreditation works

The ILM dual accreditation service evaluates your institute’s existing qualification materials to identify whether there is sufficient context, content, and appropriate assessment methodology to align to an ILM qualification.

We enable students to meet robust assessment criteria and achieve the learning outcomes by recognising two accredited qualifications as ‘equivalent’ – one by the host organisation, and the other by ILM. (For example: when modules in a university degree are recognised in an ILM qualification).

Power up your programme in 3 steps

You’ll be asked to provide a variety of supporting information detailing the course overview. If you wish to complete the mapping yourself, we’ll provide templates for you to complete, which capture details of how your programme meets the ILM qualification assessment criteria.
We’ll carry out quality assurance on your mapping. If your qualification achieves a ‘full match’, the completed template is sent back to you along with a formal letter detailing your dual accredited status.
Our Quality Delivery Team will support you through the next stages of programme approval so that you can register your students with ILM.

Is my organisation or programme eligible for dual accreditation?
What information do I need to provide to align my programme/s to ILM qualifications?
You’ll be asked to provide a variety of supporting information detailing the course overview:
- A handbook or publicity leaflet
- The course planner
- The unit or module information
- Assessment information
It also helps if you have a view on the level and length of qualification required, however, we can guide you towards our wide range of qualifications available. Complete an enquiry form to connect with a specialist Account Manager to guide you through the process and put you in touch with the relevant assessment team.
Can I do my own mapping?

It’s possible for you to carry out your own mapping of your qualification to align with the desired ILM qualification. We’ll provide templates for you to complete, which capture details of where and how your programme meets the ILM qualification assessment criteria. We’ll still need to carry out quality assurance on your mapping and you’ll be required to go through the usual approval process before we can approve the mapping.
What happens after my qualification is aligned to an ILM pathway?
Congratulations! If your course achieves a ‘full match’, the completed template is sent back to you, along with a formal letter detailing your dual accredited status.
1. The Quality Delivery Team will support you through the next stage of programme approval.
2. You’ll be able to register your students with ILM, giving them access to complimentary studying membership with The Institute of Leadership and access to award-winning learning resources and tools.
3. After a successful internal (IQA) and external (EQA) quality assurance you’ll be permitted to claim certification on behalf of your students.
