ILM launches new pathway to upskill leaders in Construction and Quarrying

ILM, in partnership with the Institute of Quarrying (IQ), has announced a new Supervising an Extractive Site Safely pathway for the Level 3 Qualifications in Leadership and Management Practice for the Construction and Built Environment Sector.

Designed to equip learners with the skills they need to drive projects forward, by opening up ILM qualifications the pathway enables more individuals to meet the needs of employers and contractors. With workers better skilled in leadership and management, organisations will can improve their overall business performance, equipping employees with the ability to enhance productivity and optimise health and safety.

Nick Cutland, ILM’s Director of Product Development, Quality and Operations, said “We’re delighted to announce this new collaboration with the Institute of Quarrying, building on the success of our Nuclear Safety and Tunnelling Environments pathways. The specialist skills the new pathway targets will produce effective leaders who can expertly supervise and safely manage staff in the quarrying industry.”

With better investment, organisations can help position the industry as a more attractive career option, with structured programmes of training and qualifications for people aspiring to management positions. ILM qualifications also provide an opportunity to improve diversity in the sector, giving more individuals the chance to demonstrate their skills.

The Level 3 Qualifications in Leadership and Management Practice for the Construction and Built Environment Sector - Supervising an Extractive Site Safely pathway are non-technical qualifications are aimed at Team Leaders, Supervisors, fore-persons, charge-hands and junior managers within Quarrying companies and, potentially, contractors and suppliers to the quarrying industry.
