How Management Apprenticeships work

Case study: Growing your staff with management apprenticeships

Leadership and Management Apprenticeships enable businesses to effectively harness and train new talent through work-related assignments, while ensuring company knowledge is retained in-house. While studying towards a management apprenticeship individuals are given the opportunity to earn while they learn and build a portfolio of work.

What will I learn?

Apprenticeship programmes cover occupational competency, technical knowledge and transferable skills providing the perfect blend of development for the workplace.

The are currently two types of Apprenticeship; those that use SASE frameworks and the new standards - which are often referred to as 'Trailblazer Apprenticeships'.

SASE framework Management Apprenticeships are made up of VRQ qualifications plus the following certification:

  • Personal learning and thinking skills (PLTS)
  • Employee Rights and Responsibilities (ERR) available as a unit or a workbook from CFA Skills.
  • Level 1 Functional Skills in English, Maths and ICT (England) or
  • Essential Skills (Wales and Northern Ireland)

     

    Trailblazer Apprenticeships are made up of two components: the ‘On-programme’ component, which is the learning, training and formative assessment delivered by the provider for the duration of the apprenticeship, and the ‘End-Point Assessment’, an assessment of the learning delivered at the end of the programme. Some Trailblazers will also have a ‘Gateway’ assessment, an assessment of skills and knowledge conducted partway through the programme which is used to confirm that an apprentice is ready to take their End-Point Assessment.
