ILM leads the way on apprenticeships - ILM develops over one third of all management apprentices each year. We do this by working closely with employers, colleges, independent training providers and higher education institutions to interpret and influence Government policy, and by actively helping to design the new apprenticeship standards we aim to meet the needs of the changing UK economy.
As a Team Leader your responsibilities may vary from supporting, managing and developing your team members, to managing projects or planning and monitoring workloads and resources. Delivering operational plans, resolving problems, or building work relationships are also key factors in becoming a successful Team Leader.
You can also fit a variety of roles as Team Leader, from Supervisors and Project Officers to Shift Supervisors, Forepersons, or Shift Managers.
Entry requirements: typically be five GCSEs at Grade C or higher.

Delivering with ILM: ILM Level 3 Diploma for Managers - launching 1 April
As part of our commitment to being the UK's leading provider of management apprenticeships, we've designed this new qualification to allow the seamless delivery of the Level 3 Team Leader/Supervisor apprenticeship. This qualification will launch on 1st April.

Level 5 managers are responsible for everything from creating and delivering operational plans, managing projects, and leading and managing teams, to managing change, financial and resource management. Responsibilities also include talent management, coaching and mentoring. Roles may include those of Operations Manager, Regional Manager, Divisional Manager, Department Manager as well as other specialist managers.
Entry requirements: typically be five GCSEs at Grade C or higher.
Funding cap: £9,000

ILM's Level 5 qualification to support the on-programme element of this apprenticeship will launch on 1 April 2017 - more details to follow.

Chartered Managers oversee people, projects and operations delivering long term organisational success. They are typically able to deliver impact combined with commitment to continual learning and development to achieve the professional recognition of their ability. As a Chartered Manager, your roles may include being a Manager, Senior Manager, Head of Department or Operations Manager; as well as anyone with significant management responsibilities.
Entry requirements: typically A Levels.
Funding cap: £27,000

New Apprenticeship Standards are replacing old SASE/SASW frameworks, which will eventually be phased out by 2019.
Standards will contain the following elements:
On-programme training and learning
On-the-job and off-the-job training and learning need to develop the apprentice’s knowledge, skills and behaviours.
The key aspects include:
- No mandatory requirement for qualifications (unless they’re a requirement such as a Licence to Practice (LTP), or are written into the Standard by the Trailblazer group)
- All apprentices will be required to develop their Maths and English skills
- Apprenticeships will cover behaviours, as well as knowledge and skills
Gateway to End Point Assessment
Towards the end of the apprenticeship, employers and providers will ‘sign-off’ the apprentice as being ready for end-point assessment.
End Point Assessment
End-point assessment is being introduced as the main assessment method for all Trailblazer Apprenticeships. It replaces the SASE model of continuous assessment and qualifications.
ILM have been approved to deliver End Point Assessments for both the Level 3 Team Leader apprenticeship and the Level 5 Operations/Departmental Manager apprenticeship. There'll be more information about our End Point Assessment offer soon.
The new model apprenticeship model separates training delivery and assessment. It allows employers and providers to focus on training and learning and helps the apprentice gain the maximum possible experience before they are assessed.
- Assessment methods – The assessment plan will outline the assessment methods to be used by independent assessment organisations for the end-point assessment
- Grading – End-point assessment will be graded. It will determine that the apprentice demonstrates the level of knowledge, skills and behaviours required in the Standard
- Delivery – End-point assessment will be delivered by an Independent End Assessor, from an assessment organisation which is on the Register of Apprentice Assessment Organisations (RoAAO)
