Focus on the skills you need

This qualification is available as a concise Award, a broader Certificate or a very comprehensive Diploma. Each unit in this qualification focuses on a specific set of skills and knowledge, in six broad areas:

  • Working with people – a range of units including how to deal effectively with stress and conflict, manage remote workers, build excellent customer relations
  • Managing yourself and personal skills – including units that focus on assessing your own leadership performance,  and developing critical thinking
  • Providing direction – such as leading teams to achieve organisational goals and objectives, and making strong and informed management decisions.
  • Facilitating innovation and change – for example, build a culture of continued improvement, and lead people through change
  • Achieving results – such as managing for efficiency and effectiveness, and managing projects that get results
  • Using resources – including managing facilities and managing information.

Details of the qualification, learning time involved and criteria a learner must satisfy

The qualification is structured into two groups. At least 2 hours of induction and at least 7 hours of tutorial support are required. There are no mandatory units and a wide range of optional units. Learners must attain a minimum of 37 credits and to achieve this qualification.

Diploma

Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management (FPR)

Level 5 Award in Leadership and Management
  • Total qualification time is 60 hours. This includes structured learning, self-study, project work and assignments
  • Minimum of 6 credits, maximum of 12 credits
  • Minimum of 2 units, with all units taken from Group 1. 

Level 5 Certificate in Leadership and Management
  • Total qualification time is130 hours. This includes structured learning, self-study, project work and assignments
  • Minimum 13 credits and maximum 36. 
  • Choice of units from Groups 1 and 2, with a maximum of 6 credits taken from Group 2. 

Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management
  • Total qualification time is 370 hours. This includes structured learning, self-study, project work and assignments
  • Total credit value of 37
  • Choice of units from Groups 1 and 2, with a maximum of 18 credits taken from Group 2.
