The Department for Business, Innovation & Skills (BIS) has released the new Trailblazer Apprenticeship Standards for management at Level 3 and Level 5

The new Trailblazer Apprenticeship Standards are the Team Leader/Supervisor Trailblazer Standard at Level 3 and the Operations/Departmental Manager Trailblazer Standard at Level 5. ILM has played a pivotal role in the development of both Standards, working as an integral part of the management Trailblazer group, together with our customers, employers and wider stakeholders. We are pleased to have helped set the Standards for the next generation of management apprenticeships, which will provide UK industry with the pipeline of highly skilled leaders and managers it needs to flourish and compete.

The new Trailblazer Standards for management will ultimately replace those on the current SASE Frameworks in England. This transition is currently due to take place in July 2017.

Rest assured, if you are currently delivering ILM Management Apprenticeships at Levels 3 and/or 5 you are in a strong position to transition onto the new Standards, and we are here to support you every step of the way. ILM has already completed an in-depth mapping of the new Standards and can confirm that our existing qualifications and resources at levels 3 and 5 will provide good coverage and support of delivery of the new Trailblazer Standards. At the same time, we are also are working to develop a wider offering of additional specialist products, in close consultation with our customers, to support you in delivery of the new Trailblazer Standards.

ILM has already been approved by the SFA to offer end point assessment for the Dental Practice Manager Trailblazer Standards. We are committed to expanding our portfolio of end point assessment to encompass these new management Trailblazer Standards at levels 3 and 5.

In addition to the new Trailblazer standards for Management at Levels 3 and 5, ILM has identified along with our customers and employers, a clear need for a Level 2 Standard to replace the Team Leader Apprenticeship, and we are working with the Trailblazer group to drive development of that Standard, and will keep you up to date on progress for that project.
